Lending A Hand

Port Bouvard Ltd has delivered a number of community development success stories around the Western Australia, with a focus on blending with the natural environment and enhancing the lifestyles of the surrounding communities. Central to this is the company’s aim of lending a hand by getting involved in community projects, including the following examples:

Falcon Primary School

Principal of Falcon Primary School, Warren Bachman, regards Port Bouvard Ltd as one of Mandurah’s most responsible corporate citizens, having been associated with the company over a number of years with important school projects.

“When the school decided to enclose its undercover area, Port Bouvard Ltd’s contribution was vital to making it happen.  Providing $20,000 worth of funding, the company’s assistance was much-needed and appreciated by the school,” Mr Bachman said.

The company has also provided funds for a regular clean-up operation undertaken by the school, and have continued their assistance in recent months to upgrade the school car park for the benefit of children and parents.

“As a company within the Mandurah community, Port Bouvard Ltd is tremendously supportive of local projects, with particular concern for the environment.  For the school, it is imperative to have companies in the community such as Port Bouvard Ltd who are prepared to consider funding requests on their individual merits,” Mr Bachman said.

Peel Health Campus Foundation

A Foundation established in the Peel Region to fund a children’s ward at Peel Health Campus has been further bolstered with support from Port Bouvard Ltd.

A major sponsor of the Foundation, the company has also played an integral role in the ongoing success of the project’s fundraising efforts. Chief Executive of Peel Health Campus Foundation Mr Tony Solin said Port Bouvard Ltd’s generosity had assisted the Foundation to meet budget targets.

“Support for the Peel Health Campus Foundation is just one community project which has been assisted by Port Bouvard Ltd over the years.  Their support of a number of worthwhile projects and organisations has been a huge boost for the local community overall.”

“Port Bouvard Ltd has established a community friendly and world class development within the Peel Region, and this is a source of great pride to many residents and visitors alike,” Mr Solin said.

Port Bouvard Surf Lifesaving Club

Development Director John Wroth was a founding member of Port Bouvard’s Surf Sports and Life Saving Club.

The company has made no secret of their support for the club, through the contribution of much needed labour and resources. John Wroth spent the first five years of the club's existence teaching children and patrolling on weekends.

President Ric Roberts said Port Bouvard Ltd removed the bitumen entry road to the site and built rock faces, limestone retaining walls and implemented the connection to major utilities such as water, electricity and telephone cables.

“Ultimately this assisted us to gather more support from future residents.”

The company also represented the surf lifesaving club in negotiations with the City of Mandurah to ensure the construction of a quality building for the benefit of local residents and the club.

“Port Bouvard Ltd is to be commended for their commitment to the local community.  The Surf, Sports and Life Saving Club is one of many organisations that the company helps, and Mandurah families benefit from their good will and dedication,” Mr Roberts said.

The company's partnership with the Port Bouvard Surf Sports and Life Saving Club is expected to continue for many years to come, with John Wroth still an active member of the management committee.

Fairbridge

Port Bouvard Ltd’s investment in the Mandurah community has expanded to include the City’s future leaders, with the company joining forces with youth organisation Fairbridge.

Established to encourage life skills and personal development for young people, Fairbridge programs have directly benefited from the company’s contributions.

Chief Executive Officer at Fairbridge, Mark Anderson said many programs developed for young people at risk, capital works projects helping children with disabilities and Indigenous construction training programs have all had a helping hand.

“They are always on hand for expert advice, and are actively working together with Fairbridge to forge new and mutually beneficial partnerships with other organisations,” Mr Anderson said.

“Members of Port Bouvard Ltd devote their time and expertise to help Fairbridge, and do so with passion and integrity.  Their relationships with community organisations like Fairbridge are more than just financial.”

“I have personally witnessed Port Bouvard Ltd’s involvement across all areas of the community, from sport and community development to environment and sustainability.  The work that Port Bouvard Ltd undertakes with Fairbridge is one example and a brilliant representation of the organisation’s contribution to the Peel Region as a whole,” Mr Anderson said.

Peel Thunder Football Club

In Mandurah, close to the company’s flagship Port Bouvard Residential Resort Estate, the company is a strong supporter of grass roots football – through its sponsorship of the Mandurah-based WAFL team Peel Thunder Football Club.

The company began supporting Peel Thunder Football Club prior to the team’s inclusion in the WAFL.

As part of its significant sponsorship agreement with Peel Thunder, Port Bouvard Ltd has directly supported the coaching staff and the senior players and is also the Major Sponsor of the Peel Thunder Junior Development Programme – The Port Bouvard Rising Stars Programme.

In 2005 a home built on a lot in the Southport precinct of the Port Bouvard Residential Development, together with another lot in that precinct, were sold as part of a fundraising initiative the club launched to develop new facilities at its Rushton Park home ground in Mandurah.  The groundbreaking sponsorship was largest in recent times of any WAFL club.

As the premium sponsor of the club, the company recently chose another lot in the Southport precinct for a further home to be built with funds again going to the club.  Port Bouvard Ltd Managing Director Ross Neumann believes that getting the club finances and off-field organisation into good shape is essential for Peel Thunder’s on-field success and the growth of grass roots football in the region.

The club’s decision to construct new facilities at Rushton Park will benefit not only Peel Thunder Football Club but other clubs in the community.
